Reimagined From Within: A Family Home That Grew Smarter, Not Bigger
Hitesh and Bharti’s Blockhouse Bay home was full of potential—but not enough rooms. One of their sons was already sleeping downstairs in the old rumpus, and they were considering a full extension to the top level to make space. After hiring someone to draft the plans, a friend introduced them to Simon for a second opinion. That’s when the real transformation began.

The Challenges
Simon reviewed the plans and budget, but realised the cost of building up wasn’t realistic. Instead, he identified an overlooked opportunity—the unused rumpus and garage. With smart design and a clear vision, these areas could be converted into warm, functional living spaces for the children, without needing to add a single square metre. The family was immediately on board.

Before, the downstairs space was cold, uninsulated, and used for storage. Upstairs had flow issues, one toilet for multiple people, and no privacy for the parents.
After, the renovation delivered two beautiful bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a second living area downstairs—fully framed, insulated, and modernised. Upstairs, the old toilet was reworked into a private ensuite and walk-in wardrobe. A scullery was added to the kitchen, and the new layout brought warmth, flow, and flexibility to the entire home.

The Transformation
Transforming 244sqm through creative reconfiguration, this renovation turned a classic weatherboard home into a modern, vibrant family sanctuary. The house now includes 4 spacious bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and 2 living areas, all thoughtfully designed for comfort, privacy, and togetherness.
A sleek black timber fence, electric gate, new carport, and concrete driveway enhance privacy and security. The interiors are filled with natural light from floor-to-ceiling glazing, and a generous deck with pergola makes entertaining easy. Warm, natural tones and clean finishes run throughout, giving the home a calm, contemporary feel.
