Our story at Add Value Renovations began in a quaint Auckland suburb, born out of a familiar challenge faced by founders Simon and Joanna – a quest for more space without the prospect of buying a larger house. Simon, drawing on his building prowess, converted their spare room into a breath-taking master suite, not just resolving their space dilemma but significantly enhancing their home’s value. While it may sound simple, the journey was far from easy – in fact, it was filled with complexities and stress.
Simon, a builder by trade, encountered challenges in navigating architectural design, plumbing, and electrical work. The search for a suitable architect proved difficult – and even when one had been found, the submission of plans to the council faced a six-month delay. Overcoming this hurdle, Simon then had to coordinate with subcontractors to ensure timely project completion. This intricate process became even more demanding with the arrival of a newborn. It became evident to Simon and Joanna that such projects required dedicated, professional management – someone on hand full time to liaise with tradesmen and delivering a quality and stress-free experience.
This personal triumph birthed a vision – a vision to spread joy among families by revolutionising the building journey. Hence, Add Value Renovations emerged – a company committed to transforming houses into dream homes without the upheaval of moving. Our journey is anchored in core values, shaping our ethos and guiding every renovation project.

Simon Liu, Director of Add Value Renovations, brings over 10 years of building expertise to the company’s home transformation projects. A qualified carpenter and licensed building practitioner, Simon combines his construction know-how with a business acumen to lead projects to fruition with precision and efficiency.

Shirong is a highly accomplished Architectural Designer who bridges the gap between visionary design and practical construction. Holding a Master of Architecture (Professional) and recognized as a Licensed Building Practitioner (Design 2).
His expertise lies in his unique ability to blend creative, sustainable design with a deep understanding of on-site reality. Shirong is known for his hands-on approach; he doesn’t just design a space—he ensures it is feasible, stays within budget, and navigates any on-site challenges with ease.
